Weekend Project

Before...

After a year of wear and tear...
After...

Re-painted and sealed

Finally back in one piece!

I LOVE projects! So a few weekends ago I under took a large one, because we have two dogs and a 9 year old, our carpets were THRASHED!! So last year we did some research and decided to rip out our carpets in the living room and the linoleum in the kitchen and hall way and stain the concrete. Unfortunately because our house was built before the staining and stamping were popular, the concrete company told me I couldn't stain or stamp it due to the paint stains on the concrete, but I could paint my floors with a special porch and floor paint and seal them and it would have the same look. After A LOT of work (I hope to never tear up linoleum again!) the floors were prepped and painted, but we never sealed them because we had to be out of house for a few days. But last weekend I had the crazy idea to repaint and seal the floors...man was it a project, but they turned out great!! We moved all the furniture, loaded up the dogs and Jonathan and headed to my parents for the weekend, to let the floors dry. I can't tell you how many compliments we have gotten on our floors! No more stains on carpet and even though it was a lot of work, it is a cheap solution for concrete floors that you can do yourself and looks great. A lady in our ward came over and asked Kasey how much we paid to have our floors redone - and she couldn't believe we had done it ourselves! (although I would highly recommend hiring someone to seal them!) I love it when home improvement projects go off without a hitch!

Before...

Look at all those curls! He was so gorgeous with curls - but it was way too much work for Kendra to maintain and he was often mistaken for a girl

I think he is even cuter with his head shaved! He has such a beautiful face that he could pull off any hairdo! Way to go Kendra - great hairdo for the summer!

Sprinkler fun...

I am so in love with this boy!! Look how FREAKIN cute he is!
My parents bought Trenton his first sprinkler...and he was testing it out

This is as far as he was getting in...still not too sure about it

He loves the mud more than the actual water

I am loving the new hair cut and how stinkin' cute this kid is. I will be so sad when they move some day!! One things is for sure...Kendra and Milton make BEAUTIFUL babies! (don't worry a before and after of his hair is coming...he doesn't even look like the same boy!)

An afternoon at the park

Matt,my boss was out of the office a few Friday's ago and the weather was too beautiful to pass up, so Jonathan and I grabbed Trenton and Matt's wife Haley and their son Cru and off to the park we went.

Trenton wasn't so sure what to think of the climbing wall...or Jonathan climbing up the wall

Here we go...Jonathan loved being a "Big Brother" at the park

Trenton had such a good time with Cru - he kept giving Cru hugs

Jonathan had a great time with Cru too

Thanks Haley and Cru for coming to the park with us. It was so fun!

Splash Pad

Splish Splash...
Jonathan LOVES the splash pad

Trenton was not too sure about all this.....Notice Jonathan standing in the center....water came shooting out of the ground right up his shorts, it was pretty funny

This was as after he got the shorts full of water and was trying to get out of the way
Alexis loved the water around the edges...but didn't want to get all the way in

If you're ever in St George, make sure to hit Main Street and check out the new park...the splash pad is great! Only downside - MAKE SURE your kids wear shoes or water sox - it is really slippery. (in the hour and half we were there we saw about 20 or so kids slip and fall)

Bocce Ball Anyone...

Apparently Bocce Ball is the number 2 sport in the world...who knew...and none of us had a clue how to play it!

I HEART SPRING

Saturday the weather was SO beautiful here that my mom called us all and invited us to the park for a picnic.

Nothing like some fried chicken, sandwiches and family fun...

Jonathan and Trenton had a blast chasing each other around in the grass

Alexis - with her gorgeous hair! (she had just woken up from a nap)

A Garden

Kasey decided that Jonathan is plenty old enough to learn about work, money & tithing, so Kasey came up with a plan to help Jonathan apply all three in real life. He pitched the idea to Jonathan about planting & tending a garden and then in few months when the vegetables were ready, he would buy them from Jonathan...also teaching Jonathan the art of negotiating. (Can you tell Kasey is a purchasing agent?) So off to the hardware store they went to purchase the seeds and the items they would need to prepare the garden. The deal is Jonathan has to plant the seeds, weed the garden, make sure it gets enough water, (all with his dad's help).
Jonathan decided to plant peas and carrots for his first round

Jonathan carefully plants each pea

Kasey helps cover the peas, while Jonathan moves on to planting the carrots

Jonathan has been out there everyday checking on his garden and finally...

The first signs of growth - peas

Easter Egg Hunt

And their off...

Jonathan gets a few from the bushes

"Mine all mine"

"That was too easy!"

"I'll help you find an egg Trenton"

Easter Outifts

So like any normal 9 year old boy Jonathan was really annoyed that I was taking pictures of him in his Easter suit...thus the cheesy half smiles. Oh well...I told him in a few years a suit will be the only thing he gets to wear on his mission - and he just rolled his eyes at me. He was pretty cute though - he said, man mom I look just like dad! :-)

Trenton though, was working the sport coat and tie. He looked so darn CUTE!!
