We have officially hit the triple digits and they are here to stay!

Since our temps have permanently become over 101 - Jonathan and his friends have found refuge in my parents pool. My parents are so great to let Jonathan and friends come over anytime and swim...so that's where we've been every night!

Summer Mohawks?

Since all the neighbor boys have Mohawks, Jonathan decided that he wanted me to cut his hair in a Mohawk. Normally I am WAY opposed to it, but since it's the middle of summer, I figure I would let go of my issues and let him have one with one condition, it has to be spiked up! It looks really lame laying down. Once I cut it though, he says to me "Mom I can't go to church with a Mohawk!" Um, nice try - yes you can! (and he did)

Most Stressful Moment:

Being up 2-1 with a minute thirty left on the clock - the ref blew the whistle for a dead ball foul and moments later the other team scored...their fans went wild thinking the game was now tied...unfortunately for the other team the whistle had already blown so the goal was brought back to us for a free kick and we won 2-1. WAY too stressful for me!

Funniest Moment:

Listening to BOTH Kasey and Jeremy - the coaches - in unison yelling Hyrum! Hyrum Johnson! Over and over , I mean really yelling to get his attention and Hyrum just walking down the field 15 feet away from them as if NO ONE was talking to him...It was pretty funny!

Favorite Moment:

Watching our boys run down those stairs to the medal podium and having them each get a silver medal!

FC IVINS WINS SILVER MEDAL

These pictures are really not that great...as we were loading up the car after the Medal game, my hands were way too full of stuff and my digital camera fell in the ditch - that had massive amounts of water running down it. So my digital camera was ruined, and of course it was at the most important part of the weekend...thus the bad cell phone photos! Anyway...FC Ivins won the Silver Medal for the U10 white division.

The boys had a great time getting to run down the stairs to the podium after their team was called. They placed the medals one at time around their necks...the boys thought it was awesome - just like winning an Olympic medal.
You can't see it in this photo, but they actually had a fire burning the torch behind them. It was pretty cool - it stays burning through the whole summer games.

All in all these boys played their hearts out! The ended up with 2 wins, 2 ties and 1 loss - (the gold medal team ended up with 3 wins, 2 ties and no losses). I am so proud of these guys and how hard they played. 5 games in 4 days against teams that were a year or two older than them was no easy tasks, but they held their own. An impressive feat for a new competitive team. Way to go boys!

Well it's official...I am 30! Okay well I actually turned 30 in May, but haven't had a chance to blog it yet. I have to say 30 feels GREAT! Milestone birthday's are fun...for some reason they make you stop and think about your life - where you are & where you thought you'd be. I found an old scrapbook I had to make in high school that had to include what we thought our life would be like at 30. Boy - was I WAY OFF!! I thought I would have 5 kids - yeah 5! Obviously written like a 17 year old with NO children! Among other things, I would have my degree in early childhood education, I would be living in my dream home, tending all my small children, travelling the world...blah, blah, blah! I am sure my senior English teacher read through all our scrapbooks and laughed! Maybe a few of those things would still be on my list of things I would have liked to accomplish, but the Lord had other plans!! 9 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer while pregnant, it was the scariest day of our lives...but over the past 9 years we have seen the power of the priesthood in action, we have been blessed to be a part of several miracles! Some day maybe we'll write about them. But when I relapsed 6 years ago, a team of doctors at the U told us there was a less than 18% chance I would live to see Jonathan start kindergarten, less than an 18% chance I would live to see Jonathan get baptized, & less than 18% chance I would live to see my own 30th birthday, and I am so glad they were WRONG!

SO those of you who know us, know soccer is Kasey's true passion! He has been coaching Jonathan for the past 5 years and this past season they went competitive, with Kasey starting his own soccer club - FC Ivins. He has put this heart and soul into this Under 9 boys club and I am so proud of him! Next week we are off to take these crazy boys to the Utah Summer Games in Cedar City where they will compete in 4 games in 3 days...whew that's a lot of driving! But it's the first time any of them will have a chance to possibly play for a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Medal. I am so excited for them and the chance they have to compete! We have such AWESOME parents who are so supportive of these boys, bringing them to practice twice a week, plus games on Saturdays, bringing treats, taking pictures, and everything else soccer entails. Kasey could do this with out them! Good Luck FC Ivins!

Character Matters...

The last week of school Jonathan's 3rd grade class performed a class play called "Character Matters" - Jonathan was one of the three little pigs as you can see. It was was all about character - such as being a good friend, being honest, things like that, but they used fairy tales characters to explain why the fairy tale Villon's didn't have any character. It was really cute and each of the kids worked so hard on their parts and the songs especially since it was part of their grade. I am so sad that Jonathan had to leave Mrs. Hancey's 3rd grade class because she was the best teacher!! I loved her and so did Jonathan! But it's on to a new adventure...fourth grade here we come!

Happy Birthday Asia

So these pictures are almost a month old, but I had to post them anyway cause I just love this girl!! Our OHHH SOOO cute niece Asia (short for Anastasia) turned ONE!! HURRAY!! She is too cute and such a character...at one she is already following in her moms marketing/PR footsteps...Asia smiles, waves and says Hi to everyone, although my favorite is when you ask her what a dog says and she has THE CUTEST lips when she says "wooowooowooowooo"! I love this girl! Can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Ping Pong Anyone...

My parents got a ping pong table a few weeks ago and Jonathan invited his two friends over to play. None of them had ever played before so at first you had to pay attention to flying ping pong balls. Then there is a ceiling fan above the table, so on more than one occasion the ball came FLYING out of the fan. It was a really good laugh for me and my dad!!
